ACPL Hosts Second Great Day Café for Seniors and Caregivers

The Allen County Public Library invites persons with memory loss, and their caregivers, to a “Spring Fling” at its second Great Day Café. The event will be held at the Main Library on Wednesday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m.

March’s event aims to facilitate memory and socializing around the topic of the spring season and will include baseball trivia, kite crafts, and a cornhole competition.

“Events like Great Day Café help us connect our lifelong ACPL patrons and their families with services and experiences tailored to their particular needs related to memory care,” said ACPL Director of Programs and Partnerships Beth Boatright. “Some of the best work we can do for these folks is to provide opportunities to socialize, find support, and reminisce on the past so those memories remain fresh and accessible.”

The Library’s Great Day Café series launched in November 2022 in partnership with Aging and In-Home Services to provide support and resources for adults with memory impairments and their caregivers. The initial event welcomed dozens of community members and highlighted the Library’s Library at Home and Memory Kit programs.
